Cost Effective Fiberglass Swimming Pools

Fiberglass swimming pools have been one of the most popular home pool options for decades, and their popularity still abounds. Some manufacturers may fool customers into believing that fiberglass pools are one of the cheaper options on the market. This is not true, at least not initially. They are often slightly more expensive than gunite pools for a comparable size, features etc. However, over the life of the pool fiberglass pools may be the more economical choice. This is due largely to the minimal maintenance and repairs that a typical fiberglass pool requires.

Fiberglass swimming pool prices vary hugely. There really is no way to tell if you’re getting a good deal unless you get quotes from several different places. However, make sure they are quoting you on a pool of similar size and features. Factors that affect price include but are not limited to: location of the pool (state), location of the pool (in your yard), features (waterfalls, slides, decking, tile, hot tub etc), size, quality and type of ground that needs to be excavated, and type of swimming pool pump you plan on using. It is usually fairly obvious which combination of factors will give you a cheaper pool – small fiberglass swimming pools will be less expensive than larger ones, pools that have to be excavated through solid rock will be more expensive than those that don’t etc. In general, decide which options and features are most important to you. Do you want your pool to be big enough to swim laps? Is it important to have a water feature? etc. before you talk pricing with a contractor. If you have a general idea of what you want, it will be more difficult to talk you into features that aren’t important to you and could end up costing more money.
